BLACKWELL gets SETI right.

SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) announced this week that, thanks to private donations, they will be able to continue their search for evidence of extraterrestrial intelligence through the end of the year. One of those donors was none other than Jodi Foster who starred in the movie “Contact.” You may remember the classic scene of Foster sitting on the hood of her car with headphones on listening for a signal of extraterrestrial origin.

SETI plays an important role in BLACKWELL. Since SETI is a real organization, I wanted to make sure I portrayed it as accurately as possible. Seth Shostak’s book Confessions of an Alien Hunter proved tremendously helpful. Shostak, a senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, chronicles the fascinating history of SETI and offers an insider’s look at how SETI conducts its research. I hope my treatment of SETI will add to the believability of BLACKWELL.
